Youngsters bounce back from opening-game defeat

Under-17 rink hockey players from Lynn registered two wins in a tournament against Letchworth, ECU Blue, ECU Gold and Cottenham.

After suffering a 4-1 loss in their first game against Cottenham, where Harvey Dugdale was on target, Lynn took to the rink against hosts Letchworth in their next match.

A fine performance saw Joseph Hawes (3), Ethan Shread and Dugdale on target in a 5-2 success.

Shread helped himself to a double in a 2-0 victory over ECU Gold, where Lynn hit the post and woodwork on numerous occasions.

Dugdale then scored in a 3-1 defeat to ECU Blue in the final match.

Player of the tournament for Lynn was under-15 goalkeeper Imogen Senter.

Alfie Poppy scored four times and Billy Davey was also on target during a 7-5 defeat against Peterborough in their first game.

Both Poppy and Davey were among the goals in Lynn's second game against Cottenham where they suffered a 12-7 defeat.

The Lynn defence worked really hard in their final outing of the day against league leaders ECU who ran out 11-1 winners.
