West Norfolk pupils dreaming of Wembley after making regional finals of National League Trust Under-11s Cup

Young footballers from a West Norfolk school are beginning to dream of Wembley after making it through to the regional finals of the National League Trust Under-11s Cup.

Ingoldisthorpe Church of England Primary School are one step away from playing at the home of football after finishing runners-up at the National League Trust Under-11s Cup in Birmingham.

The team, who have already won the Croydon Cup this season, now progress through to the regional finals in March after seeing off the challenge of many bigger schools across the country.

The National League runs the cup to help community foundations engage with as many primary schools as possible across their area.

Ingoldisthorpe headteacher Mr Sean Wright said: "It is an incredible achievement, both as a team and school.

"We are very proud of them. To rise to a massive occasion, and deliver under pressure, speaks volumes about the determined and skillful nature of our children."

King's Lynn Football Club provided the school with shirts to represent them in Birmingham and have offered to come in and hold coaching sessions for the pupils.

Jake Carradus, community education manager at King's Lynn Town Football Club, said: "Both the girls at South Wootton and mixed at Ingoldisthrope provided great games of football with both teams winning games and giving their best.

"However, it was the brilliance of the students from Ingoldisthrope, who put a rocky start to the tournament behind them, who impressed with their footballing ability from defence to attack.

"It was a joy to watch the parents, coach and teachers be so passionate about their children, which I believe pushed them on throughout the day.

"The team made the town of Kings Lynn and Kings Lynn Town FC proud of their achievements with their relentless energy and drive to compete with other very capable schools.

"I will be there in March to support the school. They have already achieved so much and I am sure they will be well up for the next stage with Wembley the destination at the end.

"I’d like to thank all involved at the school for making it possible for these students to live their dream and Kings Lynn Town for providing the kit."
