West Norfolk swimmers deliver some strong displays at City of Cambridge Grand Prix




West Norfolk Swimming Club members delivered some strong performances at the three-day City of Cambridge Grand Prix.

Held at Parkside Swimming Pool, the club's swimmers secured 36 top three places; 18 gold, nine silver and nine bronze medals along with plenty of PBs at the challenging high-level meet.

West Norfolk also finished sixth of 20 in the top visiting club points table with 342.5 points behind; team Ipswich (fifth), Northampton (fourth), Norwich Swans (third), City of Peterborough (second) and City of Coventry (first).

Valeria Soldatihhina was awarded Top Girl (based on FINA points achieved over the weekend) in her age group after winning an impressive 11 gold medals.

Full medal results by age group.

11 years: Valeria Soldatihhina gold; 50m, 100m and 200m breaststroke, 50m, 100m and 200m butterfly, 50m freestyle, 50m and 100m backstroke and 200m and 400m individual medley.

12 years: Harry Clarke; bronze 200m individual medley; Polly Anderson; bronze 50m backstroke.

13 years: Rejus Mazeika; gold 50m and 100m butterfly, 50m and 100m breaststroke and 50m freestyle; Olivia Bradford; silver 50m and 100m freestyle.

15 years: Josh Jones; bronze 400m individual medley and 200m breaststroke; Jamie Wilson; bronze 200m butterfly.

16 years+: Sam Rose; silver 50m butterfly and bronze 100m freestyle; Finlay Ryan; gold 50m freestyle, 50m breaststroke and bronze 100m breaststroke; Millie Harris; silver 100m butterfly and 50m freestyle.

The event also gave swimmers the chance to medal again in the finals.

The top eight seeded swimmers in the following age categories (14 and under) and (15+ years) for all 50m and 100m events had finals.

14 and under finals: Olivia Bradford fourth 50m freestyle and seventh 100m freestyle; Rejus Mazeika eighth 50m breaststroke; Alexander Pattison sixth 100m butterfly.

15+ finals: Millie Harris silver 50m and 100m butterfly and bronze 100m freestyle; Sam Rose silver 50m butterfly and fourth 50m and 100m freestyle; Finlay Ryan silver 50m breaststroke and bronze 100m breaststroke.
