Veteran West Norfolk athletes shine in EMAC League match at Corby

The West Norfolk AC Vets travelled to their third EMAC league match at Corby.

The men’s team again coped well with some last minute call offs to still fill the teamsheet.

In the V60 category Ian Reeve competed in six events, coming first in the 400m (75s) and high jump (1.2m). Reeve was also second in the javelin; third in the 100m and1500m and fourth in the shot.

In the V50 category, thrower Ricky Bailey finished second in the shot (6.64m) and the javelin (21.02m). Bailey also filled in with third in the 100m, 400m and high jump.

John Greenhalgh ran well in the 1500m to finish second (5.45) and third in the long jump.

In the V35 category, Matt Lamb won the 100m (13.4s) while Lee Tunmore was third in the shot (7.37m) and high jump. Tunmore was also fourth in the javelin.

Mark Garrett finished third in the 2km A walk and fourth in the 400m. Ben Collison was third in the 1500m (5.16.7) and Jim Collings came third in the long jump.

In the final event, the team of Collings, Lamb, Garrett and Tunmore finished fourth in the 4 x 100m relay.

The women’s team consisted of Katrina Wasteney in the V35 category and Debbie Schwarz in the V50 category.

Wasteney took part in six events, winning the A 2km walk (13.12.3) and finishing second in the 100m and 400m, along with third in the 1500m, shot and javelin.

Meanwhile, Schwarz won the B 2km walk, finished second in the 1500m and third in the shot (5.63m).
