West Norfolk athletes take on Outlaw Half Holkham




Several West Norfolk Athletic Club members took part in the Outlaw Half Holkham weekend.

A local festival of endurance sports over two days starting with a series of running and cycling events on Saturday and then culminating with a half iron man distance triathlon on Sunday.

The running events took place on the Holkham estate grounds, multi-terrain courses with hills and despite the strong wind, it didnt stop some impressive performances on the day.

The club's youngest members had the mini event to take on, a 1.2-mile race for athletes aged 16-years and under, which WNAC dominated, particularly the Watts family.

James Watts finished first overall by nearly two minutes with a time of 6.51 and sister Jess was the first girl with a time of 8.52.

Next up was the junior race, featuring runners 16 and under with a distance of 2.4 miles.

Aidan Howard and Henry Gosnell ran most of the 2.4 miles together with Howard claiming first place with a time of 14:32 and Gosnell fell not far behind in second with 14:35 despite nursing an injury.

Lauren Lawrence and Jess Lawrence also ran the event together finishing with times of 18:38 and 18:39 respectively.

The seniors took on 10k event with similar tough conditions.

First over the line was Mitchell Bunn, finishing second overall and first in the Mens 20-29 category with an impressive time of 34:52.

Cassie Moden also took an age category win in the Females 20-29 race with a time of 40:19.

The spectacular performances didn’t stop there despite the difficult conditions.
