West Acre C (Lewis Bunting, Chris Bunting, Phil Welham) win West Norfolk Billiards League awards night cup

By Pete Woodhouse

Following another busy season, the West Norfolk Billiards League held its annual presentation evening at Lynn’s Maltings Q Club which, as always, was preceded by its popular Alternate Shots Cup.

This event attracted 24 players and saw West Acre C (Lewis Bunting, Chris Bunting, Phil Welham) win the title, from the Maltings (Rochy Woods, Dave Brown, Alex Ward) who were runners-up.

The presentations saw league champions West Acre (Dean Bavister, Paul Bavister and James Gornall) take the league championship trophy after a fine season.

West Acre D (Alec Chalmers, Steven Chalmers and Matthew Boughen) won the team KO Cup and received the trophy.

Individually, Nathan Boughen won the Junior Championship and the league highest junior break of 47.

Jack Easter was crowned the league’s handicap champion and Richard Thorpe won a very high standard League Open Championship.

Phillip Welham’s 135 was the highest break and Mick Cooper (99) was the second highest.

Welham’s 535 was the highest 60-minute score and Cally Daws’ 425 was the league’s second highest 60-minute score.

Steve Kirk, chairman of the league, made the presentations and thanks go to the Maltings Q Club for supporting the event as always.
