Watlington Football Club boosted by new changing facilities

A West Norfolk football team has a new place to change following a donation from the Parish Council.

Through no fault of their own, Watlington FC were left without anywhere to change after their matches for the forthcoming season.

Already subjected to changing outside on the pitchside, it was a situation that was not acceptable and needed to be rectified as soon as possible, especially with winter not far away.

The Parish Council stepped in to help the club by donating a second hand unit that needed some renovation.

Watlington Football Club would like to give special thanks to: MRC Construction and Nick Langford for the donation of the unit, Jacks Restaurant at Woodlakes, Kevin Holland at the Solar Shed Company, Magdalen, for his sponsorship and everyone else who has contributed either financially or by giving up their time, to getting this project up and running.

A gofundme page was set up to help generate the funds needed for the renovation and within a few days, there was enough raised to get to work.

With the men's first team and reserve team needing this facility, it is their coaches and players, and fans of the teams that have stepped up to get this unit ready.

Whilst the renovation was going on, passers-by took an interest and stopped to ask questions and so far the club has had compliments and praise, as many know that it is long overdue.

The changing facility has now had a new coat of paint, the electrics have been sorted, the finishing boards applied and the inside will soon have flooring and frosted windows.

Watlington Football Club are very excited, their facilities are not advertised widely, but with multi size pitches, floodlights and now a changing unit, this club is on the up.

Watlington Football Club would also like to invite six to eleven year olds to a Mini Kickers development session on Saturday, September 11. It starts at 10am and lasts till 11.30am.

The club intends to run this session throughout the season in the hope to encourage young players to form teams and compete the following year.

Each session is £2 per player. Please contact Vicky Corielle on 07450 209311 to register your interest.
