West Norfolk Rugby Club players return to training
West Norfolk Rugby Club’s men’s sides are fully underway with their pre-season training which started a couple of weeks ago with players returning in good spirits to finally have some rugby in sight.
After what seems like an eternity from their 19-15 victory in the final of the London & SE division cup against Reeds Weybridge and, after receiving news that they would be successful in their promotion to London North-East 2, West are now ploughing on with their plans for the forthcoming season.
Alongside the playing developments, West Norfolk Rugby Club continue to make improvements to the clubhouse, grounds and infrastructure which will ultimately benefit both players and spectators alike.
The Gatehouse Lane outfit will certainly need to be prepared for the step up with three challenging opening fixtures of the season.
West open their season on September 18 away at Ipswich Rugby Club, which is then followed by a hotly-anticipated fixture against Wymondham at Gatehouse Lane on September 25.
This is then followed by West’s furthest away fixture of the season on October 2 against Wanstead.
Captain Henry Rust is looking forward to the season ahead, saying: “We are really pleased to finally have a plan ahead for returning to our usual game of rugby as we know it.
“Pre-season has been hard work but extremely enjoyable as we are working towards the step up in level.
“Some of the guys have obviously not been able to get much training in at all but we are confident we can get back to the level we were at and more when we played Reeds Weybridge.
“I would absolutely encourage anyone that wants to try something new or return to rugby to come and join us at training on a Tuesday and Thursday night.”
As always West Norfolk Rugby Club are welcoming new and returning players of all ages and experience.
The men’s teams train Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7pm and if you’d like to give it a go, please feel free to just turn up.
