King's Lynn swimmers see off teams from Norwich, Thetford, Dereham, Great Yarmouth and Diss to scoop Top Club accolade




West Norfolk Swimming Club (WNSC) were crowned top club at Swim England Norfolk’s annual County Challenge Gala.

There were 28 events over the two days, all ranging between 50m and 200m in all five disciplines; backstroke, breaststroke, butterfly, freestyle and individual medley.

Coach Oliver Kenny alongside Sam Rose took a team of 44 West Norfolk swimmers aged between 10 and 16 to Dereham where they brought home over 130 medals between them, securing the top club spot again by over 330 points.

Den Vojevoda brought home an impressive haul of twelve medals; five gold, four silver and three bronze.

Elizabeth Litvinenko and Martha More brought home nine a piece; one gold, four silver, four bronze, five gold and four silver respectively.

Taking home seven medals each were Ashton Busby; three gold, two silver, two bronze, Calleigh Welham-Smith; one gold, five silver and one bronze, Samuel Liddell; six gold, one silver and Thomas-Arthur Jagger; three gold, one silver, three bronze.

Mabelle Chadderton, Noah Goodson and Olivia Bradford earned six medals each, whilst Olivia Haddock and Theo Ryan secured five medals each.

Andrej Talapins, Junru Cai, Kirill Ivanenco, Nellie Chadderton, Oliver Norris and Teddy Roberts took home four medals each.

Three medals a piece went to Arabella Bishop and Layla Warby whilst Adam Jackson, Freddie Wakefield and Lexi Foster took home two medals each.

Arya Richardson, Bay Smith, Charlie Bradford, Charlie Hill, Cory Hill, Daisy Covell, David Roczniak, Isabelle Morris, Joshua Norris, Kari-Ella Bailey and Oscar Tunnicliff finished the WNSC medal haul by taking home one medal each.

Topping the leaderboard were WNSC with 876.5 points, Norwich Swans 546, Thetford Dolphins 471.5, Dereham Otters 298, Great Yarmouth 264, Diss Otters 249 and City of Norwich 63.
