Bury St Edmunds and Alton Towers the destinations for West Norfolk athletes




On a relatively quiet weekend for road running, West Norfolk Athletics Club had several athletes taking part in some cross-country action.

The Eastern Cross-Country Championships took place at Nowton Park, Bury St Edmunds.

Athletes of multiple ages took on mud and hills, challenging themselves against some of the finest athletes in the area.

Casey Ward continued her impressive development in the U13 girls’ race (3k), placing 17th and running a time of 14:24.

In the U15 boys’ race (4k), WNAC had two athletes running impressively.

Ethan Ward finished 11th overall running 13:39, Not far behind was Thomas Murray who placed 14th with a time of 13:50.

Evie Clayton was placed 11th in the U17 girls’ race (6k) running an impressive 27:22.

One senior athlete represented WNAC on the day, Chris Elmer was placed 13th in the senior men’s race running a time of 44:37.

On Sunday, Olivia Ord took part in the Run Alton Towers 5k, a unique event in which runners can race on the grounds of the famous theme park before a day of thrill-seeking at the park’s attractions.

Ord ran an impressive 21:55 as the youngster continued her return from injury.
