North Runcton Seconds record two weekend victories
Jacob Lockheart enjoyed a prosperous weekend with the bat as North Runcton Seconds helped themselves to two wins over the weekend.
On Saturday, the team travelled to Thetford with a good side and ran out winners in damp and cold conditions thanks to a very solid team performance featuring some strong individual contributions.
Batting first, the visitors accumulated steadily with runs for Lockheart (28) and captain Tom Tansley (36).
The acceleration arrived from an attractive innings by Mark Skipper (41) and George Means (36 not out) and a total of 176-5 looked very competitive.
With the ball the younger Runcton bowlers also impressed, backed by capable fielding mostly and wickets for Callum Eke, Lucas Triffitt, Phoenix Sherry and George Means.
But the outstanding bowler was Joe Gent with 3 for 7 off his six overs.
Thetford never really threatened the visitors total finishing on 142-8 to leave Runcton winners by 34 runs.
On Sunday, North Runcton Seconds hosted A10 rivals Downham Stow.
Choosing a T20 format with rain in the air both teams should be congratulated for getting a full game on.
Batting first North Runcton moved steadily and then quickly to 152-3, owing significantly to a superb 90 not out from Lockheart, supported by 18 from Jamie White.
Downham Stow got off to a brisk start but were pegged back by accurate bowling bringing 2-20 for Lucas Triffitt and 2-19 for Callum Eke.
Once L. Pepper was removed, the Downham Stow innings lost impetus finishing on 116-8 to leave Runcton winners by 36 runs.
