Lynn Rink Hockey Club U11s to face Soham in play-off to determine league champs

Lynn Rink Hockey Club U11s will play-off against Soham for the league title after their final tournament of the season at Lynnsport.

The youngsters enjoyed wins over Herne Bay, Letchworth and ECU to tie with Soham and necessitate the play-off match.

The first game was against guest team Herne Bay and Lynn started well and were rewarded with a slap shot goal from Joshua Rawlinson early in the first half.

That was then followed by two quick goals by younger brother Zachary, twice poaching rebounds with smart finishes.

In the second half, captain Rupert Oselton fired a trademark rocket into the top corner before Herne Bay pulled one back to make it 4-1.

Lynn replied with a fine team goal a minute later after Theo Pezzillo received the ball wide and squared an accurate ball for Lennox Oltai to fire home and make the final score 5-1.

The second game against Letchworth was a competitive one, with Lynn playing excellently and passing the ball as well as they have all season.

Lynn went in front in the first half when a display of determination from Oltai led to him winning the ball high up and finishing well.

A second followed quickly with another rifle from Oselton. Lynn found Letchworth a tough nut to crack after this. Some well organised Letchworth defending led to sharp counter attacks and rising star keeper Arthur Pike had to be on fine form at times.

In the second half Lynn continued to play well and had chances but it was Letchworth who got the final goal of the game on the counter, Lynn winning 2-1.

In the final game against ECU Lynn performed well again. More goals from Oltai, Joshua Rawlinson and Rupert Oselton put them 8-0 ahead and a beauty from Lewis Stannet capped an excellent day for him before Oltai slipped an inch perfect pass through to Zachary who danced through and finished another team goal.

ECU scored a good goal themselves but in the very last second, Henry Turpin scored to make the final score 11-1.
