Review of Ghosted at Norwich Playhouse: An alternative rude, sweary and funny show
Ghosted - Norwich Playhouse
This is the alternative festive offering from Norwich Theatre and it is about as far removed from a panto as you could imagine! It’s pretty rude, sweary and some of the reworked very irreverent carols will make you snigger.
Just four actors, Joshua Coley, Charlie Bryant, Teleri Hughes and Rachel Hudson-Fletcher, take on a myriad of roles as we meet Eloisa Scrooge, a mean boss who has to learn the error of her ways.
Poor Bobbi is the wretched employee and we also see a trio of exuberant ghosts who reveal Scrooge’s backstory as well as giving a glimpse into her potential - and very bleak - future.
It’s certainly a modern take on the Charles Dickens classic but remains true to the values of A Christmas Carol: charity and benevolence, and of taking care of one another.
And it’s very funny! It lasts just 75 minutes, with no interval so it’s a great little escape from all the festive madness!
The show runs until December 21.
