Holkham Hall has something for every member of the family over the Easter bank holiday weekend.

The new ‘Field to Fork’ farming exhibition is a great place to start an Easter adventure with exciting Easter riddles and eggs to find. Visitors should keep their eyes peeled for the Easter Rabbit who will pop up in this newest area of the estate with a chocolate treat for children.

A culinary delight and feast for the eyes will be the special cake gracing the table in the North State Dining Room, which will bring a touch of the exotic to the display. Made by London-based cake designer Claire Owen, the bespoke creation will feature trailing vines and flowers made from icing.

The pièce de résistance will be a life-size parrot on the top, modelled on the Countess of Leicester’s own real parrot, Basil.

Elsewhere, the Hall’s 18th century Old Kitchen will once again see cookery skills put to the test, as younger visitors are invited to practise their icing techniques with the Kiddy Cook team. Children of all ages will have great fun decorating biscuits with their very own creative Easter design.

The fun continues outside where the ‘Easter Express’ is ready to whisk passengers to the walled garden. This Easter animals from nearby Melsop Farm will be visiting and eagerly waiting for visitors to pet them, while budding Little Bo Peeps or master shepherds will be required to help search for the flock of lost sheep.

Holkham’s face painting expert is on hand to transform younger visitors into Easter bunnies or chicks, while a storyteller will captivate the imagination. All visitors are welcome at the enchanted yurt where different cultures are brought to life through music and storytelling in this unique and wonderful atmosphere. There will be Easter crafts, games galore and a chance to test your knowledge with a farmer’s puzzle and a fun quiz to find out if you know your Humpty Dumpty from your Jack and Jill.

Holkham’s opening times for Good Friday to Easter Monday are: Holkham Hall 12noon-4pm daily; Farming Exhibition and Walled Garden 10am-5pm daily.
