Discover Downham, a brand new heritage centre, was oficially opened by South West Norfolk MP Elizabeth Truss on Friday.
The centre, which is based at the town’s former fire station in Priory Road, has been transformed after nine years of planning.
The final £60,000 needed for the £650,000 project came from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). The centre is free to visit and the new displays together which focus on Fenland life and the development of the town including its trades, industries and shops.
