Heacham author and musician shares talent
A musician and author who has returned to Heacham after originally being brought up as a young child in Snettisham is set to share his talents.
Damian Carruthers has written a book called The Cheese Miner on the Moon for children and the village he grew up in gets a mention.
His book signing will be taking place for a number of limited copies at the indoor market in Hunstanton Tuesday, October 5 between 10am and 2am.
Mr Carruthers said: "I have been appearing at events around Norfolk with the book, and I have been invited to attend a meet the author and signing session at the National Exhibition Centre in Birmingham as part of their Christmas event, it will be attended by over 30k people
"Also, I am doing the Wymondham Abbey Christmas Fair in Norfolk."
Having been based in High Wycombe for a number of years, Damian moved back to Norfolk to look after his mother who was unwell and realised how much he wanted to relocate to the county and during the first lockdown formed the band Rane whose members are from Lynn.
He said: "I grew up in Snettisham from the age of four until 10 and when I came back I really wanted to get around Norfolk and get out in the county.
"West Norfolk is such a supportive county that embraces creative people.
"The dream is to live in Norfolk making a career doing what I love to do."
Rane are made up of Damian, Tor on guitar, and Kerri Rasberry and Laura Turner who are both well known singers in Lynn.
Exciting times are ahead for the band who will be headlining at B2 near Norwich this Saturday.
Lucky fans at the gig will be in for a chance to win merchandise and prizes as part of a competition.
Mr Carruthers said: "Coming together during the lockdown, we have not had a chance to get out and play live before, but we are about to play our very first gig at the B2 in Norwich on October 9, please see event details below."
