A local author has recently published his first book On the Ball Billy.

Rex Barker lived with his family in the Lynn area, studied and worked in Norwich and London, before returning to Norfolk years later as a middle and primary school teacher.

Now retired and living in Norwich he recently published his debut book which was much inspired by his experiences as a parent, teacher and junior football coach.

Having coached school football, watched his son playing in Sunday league games and attending matches for many years with his daughter, On the Ball Billy follows the story of a new boy and his friends through the ups and downs of an obsession with all things football.

Mr Barker said: "After self-publishing the book, the story, I feel, is very relevant to the experiences of young readers aimed to appeal to a wide range of eight to 12 year olds especially reluctant readers.

"The book is available on Amazon as both a paperback and ebook, and look for On the Ball Billy."
