Full steam ahead for King's Lynn Players back on centre stage
King's Lynn Players are having a busy year with its production of The Railway Children, which is being performed later this month.
Hit Andrew Lloyd Webber musical Sunset Boulevard will be shown in November.
Both shows are being performed at The Guildhall of St George and tickets are now on sale.
The Railway Children is based on the 1906 novel by E Nesbit. The famous 1970 film version was directed by Lionel Jeffries and stars Dinah Sheridan, Jenny Agutter, Sally Thomsett and Bernard Cribbins.
Both haunting and desperately sad, Sunset Boulevard revolves around the former star of the silent screen era, Norma Desmond.
Ageing and largely forgotten, she lives in her dilapidated mansion in Hollywood with her butler and chauffeur, Max. Lost in her memories, she is stirred into action when struggling screenwriter, Joe Gillis, suddenly enters her home and her life. Featuring showstoppers With One Look,The Perfect Year and the title track, Sunset Boulevard.
Director Sharon Fox said: “Rehearsals started a few weeks ago for our autumn musical, Sunset Boulevard, which will be staged from November 17 to 20.
"Because of rescheduling we are also in final rehearsals for The Railway Children which is at The Guildhall from August 24 to 27 so after 18 months off it’s now full steam ahead.”
Publicity Officer Tom Clarke said: “It has been a strange time for everyone but we are all so pleased to be back on stage doing what we love.
"We have a really loyal audience in Lynn and we hope they will embrace a return to theatre and support our new productions. I also get to tread the boards this time too with a role in Sunset which is a real treat for me”
