Biggest Hunstanton Carnival since lockdown

A popular family carnival is returning this year bigger and better for a weekend of fun at a seaside town.

Hunstanton Carnival will be taking place from Friday, June 21 till Sunday 23, with live bands performing on stage at the green from 4pm.

On Saturday, the team from KL1 Radio is up and running from midday, then there are live bands/performers leading into the ‘buskers’ corner’. This is a chance for local talent to showcase themselves, dancing into the night with the headlining act to be revealed nearer the time.

On Sunday, it is carnival time. The KL1 team will kick off nice and early with the Breakfast Show with Paul Baker. The Green and Upper Green will be busy with over 30 stall holders arriving from 8am to set up and showcase their goodies and treats.

So far in the parade there is the Caledonian Band, stilt walkers, Morris Dancers, Crazy Bananas, Rainbows, Brownies, Guides, Beavers, Cubs, Scouts, Costa Coffee, the Molly Dancers, Little Lights, Police Cadets, the Ukrainian Community, Heacham Red Hat Ladies, Shelly Keep Fit, the local Fire Crew and returning by popular demand Stamford Show Stoppers, with many more to follow.

The carnival has always been a wonderful family event and brought much enjoyment to all who attend.

Cllr Mark Williamson, chairman of Hunstanton Town Council’s Town events team, said: “When the idea of bringing back the carnival was born in 2022, we were all nervous about the reception it would receive.

“Needless to say, it was a great success, and each year we have tried to improve. Last year we saw crowds rise to over 2000 attendees, which is fabulous for our seaside town and brought many new visitors to the town.

“This year, with the help of our friends at KL1 Radio, Lynx, and the borough council of Lynn, we are bringing a three-day event to showcase Hunstanton and its talent.”

The Town Events Team would like to express their gratitude to the following for their support;

KL1 Radio for organising the ‘Party on the Green’ and entertaining people for the three-day event.

Hughes Electrical for donating an “awesome” raffle prize, a 55in Hi-Definition TV. Tickets will be on sale from 10am in the Hunstanton Town Council gazebo on the Green.

Lynx Buses for organising a late bus at 10pm back to Lynn via the villages en route.

West Norfolk Council for help and advice from Resort Services.

“Also a massive thank you to the local businesses who are sponsoring the weekend, Princess Theatre, and K Brown Autos to name a few. Without you, the event could not go ahead.”

If your business would like to get involved and sponsor the event email the office to make your pledge: clerk@hunstantontowncouncil.gov.uk
