LEARN MOREMusic in Thorpe starts its summer season of concerts in All Saints Church, Burnham Thorpe, on Friday, May 6 with the return of a favourite performer.
Violinist Joo Yeon Sir will open the series at Nelson's church, accompanied by pianist Irina Andrievsky, and has chosen a programme that not only contains well known and loved pieces by Vitali, Schumann and De Falla but also the specially commissioned piece “Dear Bessie” written in memory of the parents of a local resident. Some wonderful melodic music by the American composer Amy Beach will complete the evening.
On Saturday, May 7 at 7.30pm a great variety of resounding brass music will fill the church. The young musicians in the Cordial Brass Quintet have chosen an extensive programme including Handel’s Water Music, Bach’s Jesu Joy, Purcell, Mozart, Rutter, Gershwin, De Sousa, Grieg and Parry.
The following day, at 3pm, sees Irina return for a solo recital of Haydn, Debussy and Rachmaninov.
Tea and cakes will be served before the concert from 2pm.
