Five acts have been booked in for a special Lynn charity gig on Saturday which will launch the new Matty G & Li’l Winter Promotions group.
This will be held at Camilo’s Bar in Railway Road, starting at 6pm and continuing until late – and will be 100 per cent not-for-profit with all the artists playing for free and the proceeds going to Oxfam’s Syrian refugee crisis appeal.
Set up by Matthew Sanctuary and Warren Winter, they say: “Matty G & Li’l Winter Promotions is a DIY music promotion group in King’s Lynn. Our aim is simple – to bring great live music to West Norfolk and to showcase local talent.”
The launch gig is headlined by renowned acoustic artist Zen Lunatic and also on the bill are Serenna Derosa (Miss Galaxy Nottingham, vocal performer); Isabella Rose Smith (popular local musician); Bessy Wouldn’t Like It (new acoustic trio); and Still Nameless (Norfolk-based band featuring ex-member of The Norfolk Frauds.
Entry is by donation on the door and the promoters hope that people will give generously to the good cause.
Matthew adds: “Our events will feature well known artists people would usually have to travel much further afield to see perform.
“We have just made an agreement with Bar Red in Lynn to host a monthly event (first Thursday of each month from February 2016) featuring the best ska, punk, reggae artists known in the UK.
“We are also working with other venues such as Camilo’s Bar and, for example, on January 17th we are hosting Jaz Delorean the charismatic front man of Tankus The Henge.”
The first Bar Red Gig on February 4 will feature Popes of Chilliton, a ska/dub/punk band from London described by Tom Robinson on BBC 6 Music as “the sharpest, tightest ska sound we have ever had on the show”.
