A summer ball is being arranged in Lynn this June to raise funds for a cancer support charity.

Organisers are inviting people to party for a great cause at the Big C’s Summer Ball on Saturday, June 25, to be held at the Dukes Head Hotel Ballroom.

The ball, which promises to be a fabulous affair, has been organised by Tonia King, Big C charitable operations area manager and Michelle Padwick, centre lead for Lynn.

Tonia said: "I have worked for Big C for nearly ten years now and to celebrate this milestone I wanted to organise a local event to raise funds for this amazing charity.

"I lost my Dad to cancer six weeks after his diagnosis and as the eldest of six children, felt very responsible in helping to care for my younger siblings.

"At the time, in 2006, there was no local support for families in this situation and I made it my mission to try and change this, although at the time I had no idea how.

"My first step was to volunteer as a Cancer Awareness Champion sharing knowledge of cancer signs and symptoms.

"Then I saw a role with Big C advertised and I haven’t looked back since. I see first hand how the support and care our team give to patients and families benefits local people."

Guests can expect delicious food and drink, a magician, games and dancing until carriages at midnight.

Michelle Padwick said: "We are hugely grateful to our friends at Adrian Flux for their ongoing support, thank you.

"We still have silver and bronze sponsorship packages available for the event and would be delighted to hear from other local organisations."

There will also be an auction with impressive prizes including a week’s stay on Anglesey, rounds of golf at Middleton Club and the Royal West Norfolk Club, tickets for Sandringham House and Gardens and tickets for tours at Wild Ken Hill, the home of BBC Springwatch. Raffle prizes include restaurant vouchers, a free cinema tickets, a full body massage, a free M.O.T and lots more.

Dr Melanie Pascale, director of charitable operations at Big C, said: "Well done and huge thanks to Tonia and Michelle in organising this wonderful fundraising evening and grateful thanks to all who are supporting Big C via sponsorship or buying tickets.

"I would also like to congratulate Tonia on her milestone work anniversary, we can’t imagine Big C without you."

Regional insurance broker and key local employer, Adrian Flux Insurance Services, has kindly agreed to be the headline sponsor for the event.

Paul Twite, general manager at Adrian Flux said: "We are delighted to support Big C and the King’s Lynn team in this fantastic fundraising initiative.

"The services Big C provides offer vital support for those in our community affected by cancer. We are looking forward to a wonderful evening."

Tickets cost £60 per person, or £55 per person for a table of 10 and include a welcome drink and a three-course meal.
