Review of China Garden in Wisbech: Takeaway exceeded expectations with delicious food

What better way to kick off the weekend than with a tasty treat? A takeaway in the comfort of your own home just can't be beaten.

When deciding what food to go for, it did not take me, my partner Brandon and his mum Emma long – it had to be our favourite cuisine.

With all in favour of a Chinese, we decided on ordering from a nearby takeaway – China Garden – which always seems to be very popular.

On Friday night, after ringing a few times, we eventually got through – which was a good sign that they were busy.

We stuck to our usual order, opting for sweet and sour chicken balls (£6.60), egg fried rice (£3.80), chicken chow mein (£6.10), salt and pepper chips (£4.90), shredded chicken (£6.60), salt and pepper chicken (£6.60) and crispy seaweed (£5.30). We ordered one portion of each.

The food arrived 45 minutes later. It was piping hot and smelt delicious.

We tucked straight in, sharing the dishes between us.

Our meal did not disappoint and each mouthful was full of flavour – I particularly liked the fact that the chicken balls were not greasy like some we have had before. My favourite dish was the shredded chicken - it was just so yummy, and the sauce added extra flavour.

I don’t always like chow mein, but it was too good to resist. The smell just drew me in.

Brandon demolished his plate and thought it was one of the best Chinese meals he has had. He particularly liked the chips and the fact they were not too spicy.

Emma said her food was delicious and that she could not fault anything.

The portion sizes provided plenty for all three of us - and even enough for seconds.

It is safe to say China Garden is now our favourite and go-to Chinese takeaway.

Our bill came to a total of £40.90, which worked out at £13.63 each for seven dishes with enough left over for seconds – not bad at all.

Overall, we would definitely recommend China Garden. It provided lovely food and offers pick-up or delivery options.

China Garden, at 41 Norwich Road in Wisbech, is open on Mondays 5pm-10.30pm, Wednesday and Thursdays 5pm-10.30pm, Fridays and Saturdays 5pm-11pm and Sundays 5pm-10.30pm.
