Church historian John Vigar to come to Downham Market in January to run five-session course all about houses of prayer

A church historian will be running classes spreading his wisdom and knowledge on houses of prayer across the county.

John Vigar, who has more than 40 years of experience working with historic churches, will be coming to Discover Downham in time for the new year to run a five-session class which he says will be “entertaining and educational”.

John has a published book – Churches of Norfolk – which was released in 2022 and is also a member of the Advisory Council of the Norfolk Churches Trust.

He has said that the course is suitable for beginners and will look at the architecture and history of Norfolk Churches in a series of presentations which will also cover furnishings including stained glass and monuments.
