Mallard String Quartet to perform at King’s Lynn’s London Road Methodist Church
An afternoon of music will soon be echoing inside a church.
The Mallard String Quartet is performing on July 20 at 2.30pm in London Road Methodist Church, as part of the Lynn Fringe Festival.
With Elaine Sargent and Peter Threlfall on violins, Vina Threlfall on viola, and Jenny Sargent on cello, the quartet began playing together during the Covid lockdowns when two households were allowed to meet up.
The quartet began playing together to keep their skills up. They found they enjoyed this and so continued. Their audience in those early days were the ducks that came into the garden, hence the name Mallard Quartet.
This concert will consist of a variety of styles of music. They will be playing a mixture of well-known classics and some lesser-known pieces.
The latter includes Divertimento no. 3 by Mozart and Quartet No. 5 by Nardini. Among well-known tunes, they will be performing Pachelbel’s Canon, Bach Brandenburg Concerto No. 2, Lloyd Webber’s Pie Jesu, and Mancini’s Moon River.
The concert is free, but with a retiring collection for the Tapping House and the church.
