King's Lynn concert a sheer joy, says reviewer

A jolly night we had of it with Chanter's Jigge at the King's Lynn Music Society's concert on Wednesday 17 at the Town Hall.

Mid November, the evening dark, the air sharp, white lights glistened a welcome from the Stone Hall while warm bonhomie, laughter and music flowed about the Assembly Room.

One for the Road, a programme of songs, airs and ditties selected from the rich pickings of 600 years of street music allowed ample scope for Malcolm and Elizabeth Ecclestone to weave their many stories, jokes, anecdotes and asides into a tapestry sometimes fantastical, on occasion, hauntingly beautiful.

Of the innumerable instruments played, the combination of the sound of harp and pipe will remain in the memory, as does the enthusiasm and sheer joy with which the whole programme was presented.
