Review of Worzals Bar and Grill in Walsoken: A cosy restaurant with a good variety on the menu

.

I must admit I was pretty sure I wouldn’t be disappointed with a visit to Worzals – the car park always seems full and on I’ve always enjoyed my previous meals there.

Upon entering last Saturday evening, the restaurant, my partner Brandon and I were greeted and shown straight to our table by the friendly waiter.

The atmosphere felt relaxed and not overly noisy and even though it was only 5.30pm, it was fairly busy with most tables occupied.

Quite quickly after being seated the waiter took our drink orders: we both just chose a pint of coke (£3.45), but there was a wide range of alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages to choose from.

We then looked at the menu which had a large variety, from sharing plates, grills and steaks, comfort foods, ribs, chicken and burgers to pizza, pasta, noodles and salads. We were a little disappointed to see no starters on the menu, however.

Brandon went for the the full baby back ribs which came with salad and chips (and a little packet with a wipe) for £21.95.

I decided to go for the BBQ chicken melt with sweet potato fries which also came with salad (£16.25 plus extra £2.29 for the fries). We also got a side of garlic mushrooms (£3.45).

On arrival we were told it was a 30-minute wait for food but it came pretty quickly.

Brandon was very happy with his meal and thought it tasted really nice and said it was “unreal”.

I agreed, mine was really lovely and full of flavour. The chicken was cooked perfectly and not at all dry.

After finishing our mains, we were both quite full but still wanted a dessert so we decided to get one between us. We went for the Kinder Bueno waffle (£8.95).

When it came we were surprised at how big it was, and glad we didn’t get one each.

The dessert was lovely, although a little on the thick side, which gave too much of a doughy taste. We still enjoyed it, although we were unable to finish the whole thing... but only as we were so full.

Ratings out of five:

Food: We were both impressed with how nice the food was and it was presented well. *****

Drink: We just had coke and water, nothing too exciting but can’t go wrong and a good variety on the menu. ***

Staff: The staff were friendly and efficient. ****

Decor: The interior was subtle and cosy. ****

Price: Our bill came to £59.79, which I think is a little pricey considering we had two mains, a side and one dessert. ***
