Swaffham Town Council's Christmas event on December 3-4 includes skating rink, Santa’s grotto, fun fair and market
After the success of last year’s event, Swaffham Town Council is excited to be hosting the Christmas event again, over December 3-4.
This year’s event is proudly sponsored by UPP, who deliver fast, reliable broadband to areas across the East of England and East Midlands.
A two-day road closure has been authorised in the town centre, allowing for a festive extravaganza which will boast a variety of family friendly activities, including a skating rink, Santa’s grotto, fun fair and Christmas market.
The Saturday Market will take place in its usual spot, with the addition of some Christmas stalls to kick off the weekend. Santa’s lantern parade will get Saturday evening underway, as the regular market gives way to street food and festive stalls. There will also be live music and entertainment throughout the town.
On the Sunday, the market will take place from lunchtime onwards, offering an array of stalls from arts and crafts to baked goods. The Christmas lights will be switched on at 5pm on Sunday by UPP.
Throughout both days, the fun fair will be live, and the skating rink will be open for visitors. This year’s rink will be bigger and better and 30-minute slots can now be booked online. Santa’s Grotto will now also be open for two days, in the new location of Plowright Place. A link can be found on the town council website, under the Christmas event tab, to book both activities. www.swaffhamtowncouncil.gov.uk
Raffle tickets can now be bought from the Town Hall including £300 worth of cash prizes. If you would like to donate a raffle prize or are interested in sponsorship packages, email deputyclerk@swaffhamtowncouncil.gov.uk.
Mayor Cllr Stewart Bell said: “Christmas is coming up fast and Swaffham will certainly be open for business over this festive weekend – our switch-on event just gets bigger and better.
"It is great to have a full weekend of fun, with our traditional market still at the very heart and the warmth of the Christmas spirit we come to expect from our wonderful town. So much to see and so much to do on December 3 and 4.”
