East Rudham gardeners back together again
After over 40 years of encouraging gardeners of every ability the Rudhams and District Horticultural Society was not going to let Covid bring it down.
Unable to contribute to the society’s annual plant sale (which had to be cancelled) members of the society instead put plants at their gates and invited donations.
This raised £100's of funds for the NHS, Cancer Research and the society and helped people ‘grow their own’ when garden centres were shut and fresh vegetables in short supply.
Now, after an enforced break in meetings of nearly two years the society is delighted to be re starting regular meetings on Tuesday at 7.30 at the (Covid-secure) Rudhams’ Village Hall, rounding off the year by holding a Gardening Quiz and offering refreshments.
The society is inviting prospective members from the surrounding area to attend and says they will be made very welcome if they would like to come and see what the society is all about.
The society also wants to encourage those new to gardening and ‘growing your own’ flowers, fruit and vegetables so plans a meeting in the spring where those with enthusiasm but little experience can get support and encouragement from more experienced local gardeners.
The society considers no gardening question is ever too basic - all are welcome if it helps people and children get interested in the wonderful world of plants and planting!
