Review of Classical Music Rocks’ Alice in Wonderland at King’s Lynn’s St George’s Guildhall: Engaging and entertaining version of classic story enjoyed by 700 children

Reviewer Andy Tyler shares his thoughts on Classical Music Rocks’ recent performance of Alice in Wonderland...

Thanks to the Classical Music Rocks Charity and three versatile and highly talented professional musicians, 700 children from six local schools enjoyed an entertaining and engaging version of the Alice in Wonderland story at Lynn’s historic St George’s Guildhall recently.

The performances, spread over one day, were received enthusiastically by children ranging from 6-11 years and the schools invited came from Dersingham, Eastgate, Ingoldisthorpe, Fairstead, Greyfriars and Holly Meadows.

The three musicians, Klio Blonz (flute), Grace Mo (piano), and singer and cellist Mairead Sheerin, created and presented this magical version of the Alice in Wonderland, where story, words, music and action come together, enthralling their young audience, and introducing them to popular classical music at the same time!

Klio said: “This special performance has been conceived with one simple desire: introducing classical music at a very early age, thus opening the door to a very special world which children can continue having access to for the rest of their lives.

“And just like Alice who opens the door to a secret garden, storytelling allows our young audience to access great classical works effortlessly: a glimpse into the myriad of possibilities that only classical music can offer.”

Feedback from schools has been really positive and thanks go to all concerned for enabling the young people to enjoy the retelling of Alice’s classic story and introducing so many to the wonderful music.
