Events in abundance for winter season at Holkham Hall
There is a stocking full of delights at Holkham this Christmas season, with a filled-to-the-brim calendar of events in their autumn and winter programme.
With the courtyard gift shop open there is a chance to do some late Christmas shopping which includes a tempting and eclectic range of products showcasing the work of talented, local producers and artisans.
In October half-term will be the Magic Of Nature where families can go wild exploring woodland trails, creepy crawlies, wildlife safaris, fungi forays, twilight walks and bushcraft.
Also on offer in October is pumpkin carving or experience terror in the treetops on the ropes course.
There’s so much to choose from including a number of book signings in November between 2pm and 4pm.
Lady Glenconner will be signing her brand new murder mystery A Haunting at Holkham on Thursday, November 18, and Paula Sutton, of Hill House Vintage, will be signing her brand new recipe book Hill House Living: The art of creating a joyful life on Thursday, November 25.
Further dates in December include joining Anglia TV presenter David Whiteley in conversation with Lady Glenconner as she shares insights about her life and what stimulated her third and most recent novel.
You will be welcomed with a drink on arrival, before taking your seat for an insight into the novel, the stories behind the tale and a glimpse into Lady Glenconner’s life at Holkham Hall as a young girl.
Daily from November 25 between 10am-4pm is the chance to buy a tree from the Christmas tree shop back this year by popular demand.
Throughout December there will be Holkham Hall by candlelight, decking the halls and lighting hundreds of candles in readiness for visitors.
This is a truly magical opportunity to relish the magnificent state rooms adorned with opulent Christmas decorations and beautiful flickering candlelight.
The reserve sees the arrival of tens of thousands of wildfowl, who choose to spend their winters on our grazing and salt marshes. Huge skeins of Pink-Footed Geese, massive flocks of Wigeon and Teal and bustling gaggles of Brent Geese provide spectacular viewing for birdwatchers.
Walks are on offer in November to see this wildlife in its natural terrain.
Arias, songs, dances, carols, fabulous costumes and seasonal sparkle are also guaranteed with Diva Opera’s cast of familiar faces in November.
Their annual winter show will start the Christmas season with a bang.
Scarves are a winter essential, and visitors can create their own silk scarf suitable for every season of the year in a silk scarf printing workshop in December, accompanied with mulled wine and a mince pie.
Holkham is delighted to be opening its doors for a unique chance to meet some of the personalities and talent behind Christmas at Holkham.
Lady Leicester and her champagne, candleight and creators team, plus the artists and makers who turn these visions into reality, will be on hand to help you discover how we decorate this magical space.
Not fur-getting the four legged friends, in December there will be a canine carol service, a festive celebration of the most important of companions.
Expect to raise the woof with Bark the Herald Angels Sing.
