Even more family-friendly activities at Food for Thought this October half-term in King’s Lynn
Kids’ activities are being put on during half-term to encourage more people to visit free family-friendly cookery sessions.
The borough council-organised Food for Thought events in Lynn start on Tuesday and will include extra activities for children for half-term.
Lily, a service owned and managed by West Norfolk Council, is running the weekly interactive sessions at the London Road Methodist Church on County Court Road.
The weekly drop-ins are between 9.30am and 11.30am every Tuesday until December 3 and focus on a range of topics to help make ends meet.
Jo Rust, cabinet member for people and communities at West Norfolk Council, said: “These free sessions are already geared up for families to attend but during half-term we hope as many people as possible come to sample what’s on offer. I'm planning to take my grandchildren with me.
“Food for Thought is aimed at helping residents learn new cooking skills, swap recipe ideas, and discover ways to eat healthy and nutritional food while also saving money.
“Previous sessions have made a positive contribution towards overcoming social isolation and loneliness.
“They are sociable and family-friendly, children are always welcome to attend with an adult.
“If you’re a younger person who wants to learn some valuable advice about cooking on a budget I urge you to pop in.
“People can turn up at any point, and stay for as long as they can, but also get to taste food cooked by a professional chef.
“As we head into the winter and the increasing cost of living affects us all I believe these free weekly sessions will prove invaluable to our residents.”
The themes still to be focused on are: October 29 - autumnal cooking; November 5 - dietary alternatives; November 12 - low-cost desserts; November 19 - fakeaway meals; November 26 - low-calorie cooking; and December 3 - festive savings.
