The Arts Society King’s Lynn new season of nine lectures begins at West Winch Village Hall with 'Mad Men and Artists' on Thursday, September 8 by Tony Rawlings
The Arts Society King’s Lynn, TASKL, is busy preparing for their new season of nine high-quality lectures covering all areas of the arts.
On Thursday, September 8 the society will be meeting at 2pm at West Winch Village Hall for an illustrated talk “Mad Men and Artists” by Tony Rawlings who has worked in advertising and lectured on the subject all over the world.
He will be discussing how the advertising industry has, often with humour and irony, made use of fine art imagery in their campaigns, so it promises to be an entertaining afternoon. Like all Arts Society lecturers Tony is accredited by The Arts Society which is a leading arts education charity with a global network of local Societies, so you are always guaranteed to hear an expert in their chosen field.
In addition to the lectures, the group organises a regular programme of social events for members including meals out and afternoon teas, trips to exhibitions and interesting historical venues and even holidays.
The society has different volunteering groups working with young people, at local historic houses and with church recorders that members can choose to be involved with. There is also a small group of enthusiastic amateur artists, who meet regularly to share ideas and paint together.
New society chairman Stuart Dimmock explained: “At TASKL we have always tried to offer so much more than just our excellent art-based lectures. Especially after the last two years we know how much our members appreciate the range of social and volunteering opportunities being a member of our society offers. We will always offer a warm welcome to new members.”
TASKL meets once a month on the second Thursday from September to May and anyone is welcome to become a member for just £52 a year or can go along to individual lectures as a guest for £10.
