Festive fun for all the family as The North Pole comes to Cambridge
If you thought the North Pole was thousands of miles away then think again, as the magic of Christmas is much closer than that – Cambridge in fact.
The North Pole at Parker's Piece opened its doors to patrons this weekend (Saturday, November 17) and offers fun for all the family with ice skating and fairground rides and stalls.
Not only that, but with an Alpine Bar serving drinks including mulled wine and hot cider, and food offerings such as German sausages, burgers, pizza, crepes and doughnuts, patrons can spend several hours at the venue with everything they need in one place.
Those wishing to enjoy the North Pole Ice Rink do so underneath the new polygon roof, offering an all-weather skating experience.
For the youngsters, they can take to the ice with help from a penguin guide, at the added cost of £5.
Sessions run on the hour for 45 minutes, from Monday to Friday 12pm to 8pm (last skate) and closes at 9pm, from 11am to 8pm (last skate) and closes at 9pm.
From Monday, December 17 the ice rink is open from 11am every day, and it is closed on Christmas Day.
Tickets cost £10.50 for children aged 12 and under (all children, minimum three years, must be accompanied by an adult), £11 for students (must present valid NUS card), £11 children 15 and under, OAP (65+, must present valid ID) and Jobseeker concessions (must present proof of eligibility).
Families also receive a discount, with family tickets costing £39 for one adult and three children and £41 for two adults and two children.
Travelling to and from The North Pole is simple, with Cambridge Railway Station a 15 minute walk away, and parking nearby at Queen Anne Terrace Car Park on Gonville Place.
