Barton Bendish Film Club to screen The Lady in the Van in tribute to Dame Maggie Smith at village hall
A popular film will be shown at a village hall screening next month in tribute to an actor.
Following the death of Dame Maggie Smith, Barton Bendish Film Club has decided to screen her BAFTA-nominated performance, The Lady in the Van, at Barton Bendish Village Hall on Saturday, November 2.
The film is based on the hilarious but almost true story of Alan Bennett's strained friendship with Miss Mary Shepherd, an eccentric homeless woman who Bennett befriended in the 1970s before allowing her temporarily to park her Bedford van in the driveway of his Camden house. She stayed there for 15 years.
Admission to this screening is free, thanks to the support of The Norfolk Community Foundation, Love Norfolk Fund 2024.
The film will be shown at 7pm.
