First look at 2025 Thursford Christmas Spectacular
Fresh off the back of winning Best Christmas Experience for the second consecutive year at the Group Leisure and Travel Awards, the team at Thursford has released the first look at the 2025 production, which promises to be the most magical year yet.
Based in North Norfolk, the Thursford Christmas Spectacular has been entertaining millions of audiences for 48 years, with its West End quality production filled with non-stop singing, dancing, music, comedy, and much more.
The three-hour show continuously receives five-star reviews and welcomes more than 50 coaches per day, with audiences travelling from all over the UK and overseas.
Led by director and producer John Cushing OBE, the show has become a staple in the world of theatre, with the complex housing the world’s largest collection of steam engines and organs in the summer. But by November, the auditorium and site are transformed into a winter wonderland like no other with more than a million lights, animatronic animals, and giant luminated lanterns.
What breaks the tradition is the scale of the production, with 120-plus singers, dancers, musicians and speciality acts all performing across a 130ft stage (abnormally large for a show of this scale). Included in the cast is a 32-piece live orchestra, positioned in clear view of the audience, and a purpose-built 1,400-seat theatre inside an auditorium.
In recent years, the show has had some major upgrades, with 2023 seeing a huge million-pound investment with a state-of-the-art sound system rivalling some of the best shows in the West End. The following year saw upgrades to the lighting team and seating. This year will see the biggest investment in costumes to date, and all-new routines, including a second showgirls act not seen in the show before.
“We never rest on our laurels, and this year’s show is no exception. It is set to be our most magical year yet,” Mr Cushing said.
