Flitcham centre to be transformed into Dickensian bazaar
Flitcham are stepping back in time tomorrow to celebrate a Dickensian Christmas at the village’s community centre with the doors open to everyone between 10am and 3pm, writes Peter Bird.
The centre is being transformed into a Victorian Christmas bazaar for the day with all manner of treats for visitors including providing customers with a chance to buy a range of stocking-filler Christmas presents.
Everything will be Victorian with some stall-holders dressed in clothes of the period.
Even the building itself is an approximately 150-year-old Victorian time capsule for it was originally a Victorian public house called The Bell.
The event tomorrow (Saturday, November 30) will help raise funds for the centre.
The annual cost of keeping it open is approximately £14,000 each year.
All Flitcham residents can become members, as can those living outside the village.
It is open from Monday to Saturday between 7.30pm and 11pm and during the day for other organised events which include various craft-making activities, bingo and yoga.
