It’s a busy time for Fadlos, Fakenham and District Light Operatic Society, which is currently in the middle of rehearsals for the two latest productions Legally Blonde and the Fadlos Kidz production of The Phantom of the Opera.
And there’s also a four-legged diva who has been getting plenty of attention.
The group is currently celebrating its latest Noda award win for best pantomime, Dick Whittington, and also in securing the rights for Sister Act the Musical for July, 2017 as its 50th anniversary production.
Fadlos has been fundraising and raising awareness for Legally Blonde, a musical which follows the journey of perky Elle Woods, who goes from being seen as dumb blonde to graduating from Harvard Law while causing all sorts of mayhem along the way, but proving that hard work and determination can make the world see you in a different light.
Legally Blonde is a fairly new musical which is upbeat and perky, with comical songs and lively routines; it has attracted lots of new performers to the stage and the talented blonde Grace Burton has joined the society and taken the title role.
Grace is a well-established singer and talented actress who has featured in shows in other areas of Norfolk.
Victoria Perryman and Michael Silvester have also joined the cast, taking the roles of the crazy, slightly unstable beautician Paulette and the stern and scary Professor Callaghan.
However, the most important addition to the society has four legs, wiggles a lot, is the most demanding diva and only sits still when given treats – meet Susie the dog who is playing Elle’s pet Bruiser Woods.
There are also some new faces in the ensemble alongside the usual members and it’s also curtain-up for the new curtains that Fadlos has paid for as part of a tidy-up-the-stage project.
The show sponsor is Summerhill Veterinary Centre of Queens Road in Fakenham and Legally Blonde will be playing at Fakenham Community Centre from May 10-14 with tickets now on sale at Sweets ’N’ Things or online at www.tick etsource.co.uk/fadlos.
There will be a gala opening night of Legally Blonde on Tuesday, May 10, when Fadlos will be raising money for Breast Cancer Care, and it is hoped members of the audience will dress up in something pink.
Fadlos Kidz – with an age range of seven to 21 – will take The Phantom of the Opera on stage from July 5-9.
