Ben Thapa, a member of the successful G4 group, will be the special guest singer at Lynn Male Voice Choir’s concert at Lynn Town Hall on Wednesday.
G4 shot to fame on the first series of ITV’s The X Factor in 2004, where they pioneered the world of popular opera, captivating the hearts of the nation and being catapulted into instant stardom.
However, in 2007, after three albums, over 2 million album sales and five sell-out tours, the band decided to disband to follow individual interests.
But then in November 2014 they reunited and are now enjoying a huge resurgence; this year they are touring again which includes a concert at Lynn Corn Exchange in September.
Ben was born in Cambridge and first studied at the Northern College of Music, graduating from the London Guildhall School of Music and Drama in 2004 and then the Wales International Academy of Voice in 2013.
He has participated in master classes including those with Kiri Te Kanawa, has twice been a Britten-Pears scholar and has sung in numerous opera productions.
Ben will be the star turn at the Town Hall concert which will also include a varied programme from the Male Voice Choir ranging from well-loved traditional songs including Rose of England and Bless this House to popular tunes such as She from the film Notting Hill, and Always on My Mind.
The KLMVC spring concert starts at 7.30pm; tickets are £12 available from choir members, True’s Yard Museum (01553 770479), Geoffrey Collins and Co (01553 774135) and the choir treasurer Alan Miller (01553 828539).
