Iconic musical Grease is on at the Guildhall from next Wednesday (March 16) to Saturday, March 19, at 7.30pm, with a 2pm Saturday matinee.

After nearly two years of negotiating, and a couple of moves due to Covid-19, the King's Lynn Operatic and Dramatic Society (KLODS) delayed production opens next month to already swelling audiences.

With theatres welcoming back audiences, there has never been a better time to escape into 1959 and join the lives of Sandy, Danny, the pink ladies and the T-Birds in one of the most famous soundtracks of all time.

David Nash, chair of KLODS said: "Its going to be a cracking show with some great performances."

The show takes audiences back to the timelessly funny story of teen love, cliques, and peer pressure which has gained fans in every generation thanks to a charming and talented cast, a catchy soundtrack and endlessly quotable lines.

At the heart of the story is the romance between hot-rodding gangster Danny Zuko performed by Zach Stanford and the sweet new girl in town, Sandy Dumbrowski as played by Grace Burton.

They had a secret romance in summer, but now back in the context of school, peer-pressure and cliques make their love a bit more complicated.

Can Danny maintain his cool dude status and still get make demure Sandy his girl. Or will Rizzo , played by Jasmine Walder and the pink ladies be just too much.

The whole gang sings and dances around Danny and Sandy’s romance, through such hit songs as Greased Lightnin', We Go Together, and Mooning, recalling the music of Buddy Holly, Little Richard and Elvis Presley that became the soundtrack of a generation.

With a cast of 20, including many well-known local performers, the show has been directed and choreographed by Hayley Dennis.

Ms Dennis has faithfully recreated many of the dance routines that people are expecting to see, plus developed some of the iconic moments with Rob Stevens playing the role of Teen Angel.

The show is full rock and roll dance, lifts and spins, the hand jive alone will leave you breathless.
