The popular Hunstanton One-Act Drama Festival returns this summer and will be held in July at the resort’s Princess Theatre. It opens on Friday, July 7 at 7.30pm, continuing on Saturday and Sunday 8th and 9th with performances at 2.30 and 7.30pm on both days.
Each performance will consist of different adult and youth drama groups from throughout the district performing one-act plays of their choice.
Each session will usually include two or three different plays while the last evening, ‘Oscars Night’, will include special entertainment and the presentation of awards for both the Drama and Dance Festivals.
After each session, the adjudicators will talk briefly about each play and how well each team achieved their objectives. Full written adjudications will be issued to each group after the event.
The event is also a competition and trophies will be awarded within different categories including Best Original Script, Best Play and Best Actor/Actress at the end of the Sunday performance. These will be presented by the Mayor of Hunstanton.
Entries are still being received and the deadline for these will be the end of April. Entrants may submit a published or an original One-Act play or, alternatively one scene from a full length play. If you are interested in submitting an entry contact email@example.com to obtain forms and full details of the rules and regulations.
Senior adjudicator, Michael G Williamson, said that he was delighted that the Festival had continued to grow in numbers and significance over the years and was now regarded as one of the best in Norfolk.
