Famous bear will be waving its paws in Hunstanton
A famous bear from the world's longest running children's television show will be taking to the stage at the Princess Theatre, Hunstanton this April.
With a little help from his friends Sooty (the bear has an OBE and his own Sooty Land at Crealy Theme Park) will be appearing with Sweep and Soo and of course Richard Cadell in Sooty's Magic Show on Wednesday, April 6.
There will be two shows on the day at 11am and 2.30pm and audiences can expect magic, music and mayhem with buckets full of audience participation.
Described as a spectacular treat for Sooty fans old and new there is also a chance to meet Richard and Sooty after the show.
Richard Cadell spoke to the Lynn News, with some input from Sweep, and he said: "It's nice for us as we haven't toured for a long time and the Princess Theatre, Hunstanton will be the first venue for two years.
"Sooty will be 75 next year and it is the longest running children's TV show in the world."
"It's the only kind of traditional slapstick for kids and the secret is that the format has never changed.
"We get screams of laughter from adults and kids and the little teddy bear, originally devised by Harry Corbett is a great cheeky character and Sweep talks nonsense.
"Parents and kids get a kick out of their kids enjoying what they'd enjoyed.
"It's not remotely educational, well, the kids have been to school all day so let's make them laugh. It is slapstick and unique."
Richard is a talented ventriloquist and magician and has performed a lot of comedy as a result of working with Sooty as well as in pantomime and magic shows.
He said : "My roots are in magic and I am mindful that Sooty is Harry's boy and I have a massive respect for his creation.
"One of the things I like to tell people is that I take Sooty in to the foyer after the show so they can shake his paw."
