King's Lynn lecturer Sandy Burnett to give talk on composer William Byrd




Broadcaster, bassist and lecturer Sandy Burnett’s talk at Lynn Town Hall will celebrate the work of composer William Byrd.

Singing in Secret: William Byrd, Queen Elizabeth and Worship Under Wraps will be hosted by Lynn Music Society on Wednesday, March 15 at 7.30pm.

Four hundred years ago in July 1623 saw the death of the outstanding English composer Byrd.

Prolific and successful, he was a favourite at the court of Queen Elizabeth.

But Byrd led a complicated and dangerous existence as a devout Catholic in troubled Tudor times.

Visitors are welcome and a £10 donation suggested.

The event is free to under-18s and students.
