Listen carefully, we shall say this only once ... Watlington Players to perform 'Allo 'Allo
They say the third time is a charm and for the amateur dramatic Watlington Players the pandemic has not been a laughing matter, with cast changes and show cancellations and a leading lady being struck down with Covid-19.
But at last, at last, the show will go on with a performance of 'Allo 'Allo by the Watlington Players at Watlington Village Hall on October 28, 29, 30 at 7.30pm.
Kevin Rooney, co- director said: "Now listen very carefully, I shall say this only once. The cast is in place. The rehearsals are under way and often are taking longer than they should because the cast cannot stop laughing."
Audience capacity at the hall is 108 seating and the group are hoping to sell out as the money will go towards some refurbishments at the venue.
Mr Rooney said: "There will be lots of belly laughs and will be a typical 'Allo 'Allo experience with everyone laughing. The script is written by Jeremy Lloyd and David Croft and licensed by Samual French.
"The production will be cabaret style seating. It will be nice to get as close to full as possible as the Players have some catching up to do with some storage costs, we have put in for a new curtain and for some new equipment for the hall.
"This will enable us to update the hall and be able to do more shows."
Director Jen Ives who is also performing in the show said: " On Saturday 25th October, Lynford Hall, near Mundford, kindly allowed us to do a photo shoot at their venue. The courtyard at Lynford Hall was where the original television series was filmed, and is so recognisable as the outside of Rene’s cafe."
New members are encouraged to join the group and future shows include the pantomime with readings now started and next year's show Shrek, for May/June with auditions happening in January 2022.
