An author who lives in Dersingham has penned a book about a journey of discovery which was published in March.

Voyage of Dreams, by Lolita Purins, who is based in now in the West Norfolk village, delves in to a fascinating family history covering a time fro the tsar of Russia to the Vietnam conflict.

Publishers AH Stockwell describe the book; "When Lolita decided it was time to write a brief family history to pass on as a legacy to her daughters, she never thought it would become a voyage of discovery for her.

"The secrets and hidden skeletons fascinated her, so Lolita delved deeper in to old letters, documents and diaries.

"The brief history has become a book that is of interest not just to family and friends, but to the general public as well.

"Lolita's family history, including her own childhood, strikes her as being more unusual than what most folk experience.

"Lolita will be publishing a follow up book Life and Loves of Lolita, which will relate how she lived to the full while single.

"It will include love letters she exchanged with her soldier sweetheart, who served in Vietnam."

Born in Pembrokeshire, Lolita Purins was the child of Second World War refugees from the small, picturesque Baltic country of Latvia.

Her early years were experienced in a strained atmosphere.

Only in later years, after her parents died, did she attempt to unravel what moulded their personalities.

She was then able to understand better why her home life was never an easy one.
