Lottery boosts first Downham Market Live
This September sees Downham come alive with the sound of music!
Having been awarded a grant from the National Lottery, which together with local sponsors Barker Brothers, Lingo Designs, and Downham Town Council, means that the Downham Market Live event is secured and can be bigger and better than the organising committee dared to imagine.
Local venues will host a range of performers on the evening of Friday, September 27. Poets and songwriters will perform at the Crown Hotel Stable Bar, a music jam will take place at the Downham Market Club on Paradise Road, and Arbuckles restaurant will play host to live music.
On Saturday, September 28, the town centre will come alive with an acoustic stage on the town square, a host of street food retailers and artisan craft stalls.
There will be something for everyone and all ages – a Busker’s Trail and competition for children, and music genres to suit all tastes.
On the Saturday evening, a ticketed event in the Town Hall will showcase three popular bands – Gentlemen of Few, The People Versus, and The Shackleton Trio. Tickets are available now on line at www.downhammarketlive.co.uk or at a discounted price for local residents if purchased in person at No8 The Old Bookshop, High Street South, Downham Market.
The Conservative Club will open their doors to everyone on the Sunday afternoon, with a selection of bands.
Organisers are looking for volunteers during the daytime on the Saturday – get in touch if you’d like to be part of the marshalling or merchandising team at firstname.lastname@example.org or ring 01366 387770.
