Members of the King’s Lynn Festival Chorus met up with members of the Sheringham and Cromer Choral Society at a first joint rehearsal/workshop of the Mahler Symphony no. 8 (Symphony of a Thousand).
They form just one of the two massed choirs of the work.
Together with a children’s choir, a huge orchestra and eight vocal soloists, they will perform this work at Royal Norfolk Showground Arena on Saturday, May 21, as part of the Norwich Philharmonic’s 175th anniversary celebrations.
A spokesman of the Festival Chorus said: “It was challenging at first even to find our way through the score as vocal lines could appear or disappear without warning. But this work has grown on us and we are looking forward to performing this work to an audience of over 2,000 people.
“It’s going to be a great occasion, truly once-in-a-lifetime experience.”
A few tickets are still available for the concert from the Theatre Royal Box Office (tel 01603 766400) or from the website of the Norwich Philharmonic.
