The next event for King’s Lynn Music Society is an illustrated talk entitled “Sergei Rachmaninoff – his life and music” which will be given by Dr John Malpass on Wednesday (7.30pm) at Lynn Town Hall.
Dr Malpass describes himself as a musical enthusiast rather than a professional musician although he was a church organist from the tender age of 11 and went on to complete the organ examinations of the Royal College of Music.
He enjoyed an academic career in chemistry, taught at the University of Leicester with periods in the USA and Australia and his published research led to the award of DSc by the University of Birmingham and an Emeritus Readership at the University of Leicester.
He is chairman of the Grand Union Wine Society in Leicester and has been a member of the Rachmaninoff Society for more than 20 years. His love of music continues to develop.
As usual for these popular KLMS events, the doors will open at 7pm when tea/coffee will be served in the Stone Hall.
Visitors are welcome, £10 at the door but under 18s, students in full time education and those with affiliation to FRMS are free.
