Tickets for a charity fundraising soul night at Lynn this month have … just about ‘souled out’.
Billed as a Valentine’s Soul/Motown/Northern disco with DJ Barry Francis, it’s being held at the Linnets Lounge (former Blue and Gold) at Lynn Town FC stadium on Saturday week, February 13, with Red Wellies as the chosen charity
As the Lynn News went to press, the gig organiser, Gordon Chilvers, reported: “There are less than 10 tickets unsold. When they have gone I will keep a list so if anyone can’t go then I will resell the tickets.”
All tickets (at £5 each) must be booked in advance from Gordon on 07836 630564; there is no admission on the night.
This will be the first of a series of charity fundraisers by Gordon, a partner of Lynn firm Double G Clothing, as we have previously reported.
Tickets at £5 are also already selling well for Saturday, April 16 (charity Reach For a Star), at the football club, and there is already huge interest in the September event which now has a new venue at the Champs Function Room at the Adrian Flux Arena, Saddlebow Road, Lynn (speedway stadium) where there is lots of free parking.
Headlining the September gig at Champs will be the Motor City Vipers soul band from Peterborough, along with DJ Barry Francis playing soul, Motown and Northern.
In addition to this, out on the veranda there will be Northern, R&B and rare soul with DJ John Hall and guest DJs Sue Simper and Simon Cox (Runcton Holme Soul Club), Sarah Jane (Norfolk Young Soul), Clint Dennis (Whittlesey, Cambs), Derek Smiley (Ain’t Nothing Like a House Party) and Colin and Julie Shepherd (Hull).
Tickets at £15 each are available in advance only and for details call Gordon Chilvers on 07836 630564. The nominated charity will be the Magpie Centre, Riding for the Disabled.
There is also the possibility of a New Year’s Eve function, with details to be announced as soon as confirmed.
Moving on to Saturday, January 28, 2017, Angelo Starr and The Team will be performing at Lynn Corn Exchange. Barry Francis is again the DJ playing soul, Motown and Northern and there will be various guest DJs. Tickets again will be £15 in advance and will be available from the Corn Exchange box office as soon as they go on sale. Date to be confirmed.
