King’s Lynn Players rehearsing Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls The Musical being staged at The Guildhall
The King’s Lynn Players are back in rehearsal after their summer break for their next production, Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls The Musical being staged at The Guildhall of St George from November 16 to 19.
Fresh from the critical acclaim for their production of Andrew Lloyd Webber's Sunset Boulevard, director Sharon Fox said of the Players' next outing: “Rehearsals for this show have been so much fun and we have put together a cast of top talent from around West Norfolk who have bonded so well together.
"The team spirit has been so good this time that they all requested Calendar Girls T-shirts!”
She added: “Almost a decade ago we staged the play of Calendar Girls and it was a big hit. It was an emotional journey and we hope that audiences will love the true story of a group of ordinary women living in Yorkshire who achieve something extraordinary!”
Publicity officer Tom Clarke added: “When we staged the play it sold out…so we hope people will book early to avoid disappointment. We have also decided to extend our £10 ticket offer to this show.

Gary Barlow and Tim Firth’s Calendar Girls The Musical is inspired by the true story of a group of ordinary women living in Yorkshire who achieve something extraordinary.
It begins when one of the women’s husbands is diagnosed with non-Hodgkin lymphoma, a type of blood cancer. He sadly dies just a few months after he starts treatment.
In the months that follow the friends get to work making a ‘nude’ calendar to raise enough to buy a new sofa for the hospital where he was treated. The calendar attracts international press attention and the friends end up raising millions for Bloodwise (formerly Lymphoma & Lymphoma Research).
Based on the 2003 film, and with unforgettable songs, each performance continues to add to the millions already raised for charity and proves that there is no such thing as an ordinary woman.
